Site/Building Information

The Co-op has chosen the corner of Cottage St. and Bethlehem Road (Route 302) as its building site. The 3.9 acre parcel is under contract. Horizons Engineering has been carrying out tests and working on a site plan along with General Contractor Daniel Hebert, Inc. which has been selected to construct the store as a design-build project to minimize cost and construction time. The Facilities Committee selected Hebert after extensive interviews, credential reviews, and analysis of pricing proposals from 7 contractors experienced in building similar facilities. Very soon the contract will be finalized and signed and ground broken!

Associated Grocers of New England, a co-operative wholesaler with wide experience in design and layout is working with the Committee to lay out the interior. We will also seek the Hanover Co-op's input. Information gathered in the member survey will be important in this work. It is clear that members want significant space dedicated to fruits and vegetables as well as an emphasis on locally produced goods.

The Facilities Committee is headed by Jeffrey Wheeler, President of the Co-op and owner of the Village Book Store in Littleton. Other members include Mark Secord, Treasurer of the Co-op and a CPA with Driscoll and Company; Mike Norman, a Co-op Director and Vice President of Horizons Engineering; David Wood, Executive Director of AHEAD; and James Walker, an engineer and appraiser.
